We are open daily from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week. A warm welcome is waiting for you at the friendliest cellar door on the Granite Belt. Established in 1932, Queensland’s oldest winery is home to 50-year-old Shiraz vines.

You are always welcome to enjoy a glass of wine and platter on the front lawn in our courtyard, with views over the Opera Block vineyard.
Walk ins are always welcome. Bookings are recommended on the weekend and for groups of 4 or more.

Vineyards
Established 1932 — Queensland’s oldest winery and home to 50-year-old Shiraz vines.
We have two vineyards in Ballandean: Ballandean Estate and Bellevue. Our free-draining granitic soils, cool climate and high altitude provide us with the perfect conditions to create national and international award-winning cool climate wines.
Try our rare and alternative wines
We love experimenting with alternative varietals. Ballandean Estate owner Angelo Puglisi planted his first Strange Bird™ variety Malbec in 1984. A wine pioneer, Angelo’s vinicultural vision has delivered 13 new Strange Birds™ for the Granite Belt Geographical Indication. In early 2019, we launched Queensland’s 27th Strange Bird™, Malvasia , the first to be released on the Granite Belt.
Ballandean Estate blends the history of five generations with modern winemaking methods, resulting in a remarkable wine experience.
Top things to do when you visit the Granite Belt
It’s not just our fine wine that puts the Granite Belt on the map — we have a bounty of local produce, breathtaking national parks, the largest granite rocks in the county, hiking, cycling, fields of wildflowers and boutique bush accommodation. Think rolling hillsides lined with vineyards, artisan cheese producers, olive groves, picking your own strawberries and enjoying luscious desserts, and orchards growing apples, pears, plums and peaches.
